At Ravenswood Loft we understand that the need for creativity and growth must be coupled with the need for a safe and secure environment for Chicago Families.
Ravenswood Loft WILL be hosting Vaudeville Day Camp during the summer of 2020 in a creativity infused, hygienic, socially distanced, safe and secure environment.
Ravenswood Loft will be fortifying their staff to 1 full-time vetted adult staff person per 3 children, creating separate personal areas for students, including supplies used exclusively by one student during the course of each week, required face masks, socially distanced performance and class opportunities, and plenty of handwashing.

Families must register with a 50% deposit to hold a spot. Should there be Illinois restrictions to the camp being conducted during any of the weeks scheduled or your student has tested positive prior to the camp week, a full refund of your deposit will be given.
The Galaxie, Chicago's premier source for authentic vintage entertainment, is excited to offer 6 very special weeks of fun-filled day camp exploring all aspects of "Vaudeville"
These week-long summer camps will take your children back in time with guided instruction in classic performance and fine art genres culminating in the creation of a vaudeville silent film. Together participants will engage in music, dance, scenic design, film making, tumbling, character studies, screenwriting and beyond, all culminating in a short silent film that can be shared with friends and family.
Small class size will ensure extensive one on one time between students and instructors.

Students will create a short film based in the vaudeville silent film genre to share with the whole family

8am Early drop off/morning open play
Classes 9am-11:30am
(Classes are 45-50 minutes)
Lunch 11:30am-12pm
Classes 12pm-4pm

4pm-5pm After camp open play
Students can be dropped off anytime between 8am-9am
Students can be picked up anytime between 4pm-5:00pm

The Galaxie will provide a small nutritious snack morning and afternoon.
Camp size will be limited to 10 students to ensure and safe environment and specialized attention.
Ravenswood Loft is a 'device-free' zone
$425* per week per child
$400* per sibling​
*Rates have increased based on student limit, additional staffing
and personal supplies for every child.
Ravenswood Loft is a device-free space
Trips to Zatterberg Playlot Park, (State of Illinois guidelines and weather permitting) followed by quiet time
Family provided lunch/snacks provided

About The Galaxie and Director Nicolle Wood
​
Nicolle Wood, also Director of Ravenswood Loft, has over a decade of experience working with students throughout the Chicagoland area, including extensive contracts with CPS in movement, visual arts and music education.
Her background is in theater performance and visual art studies, having studied at Wayne State University and the School of the Art Insitute in Chicago.
As the lead and founding teacher for 'Swing for Kids', she has innovated programs exploring American dance forms, with a specialization in forms rooted in African American history of the 20th Century.

Her creativity, knowledge and professionalism has lead her to become Chicago's leader in authentic vintage performance forms, and have given her access to the very best performers in Chicago and nationally.
​
Nicolle will be the lead instructor and present for all 'Vaudeville Camp' days.
